Speaker: Dr. Boyang Li, Principal Research Scientist, Joint NTU-UBC Research Centre, Excellence in Active Living for the Elderly

Date: Jan 07, 2020

Abstract:

Narrative Intelligence is defined as the ability to craft, tell, understand and respond appropriately to stories. The pursuit of Computational Narrative Intelligence requires multiple machine learning techniques that collaborate closely in order to construct sophisticated semantic understanding from the ground up. In this talk, I will present a categorization of semantic concepts into four levels, including media, events, event groups, and characters, review my research works from this perspective, and discuss the roadmap going forward.

Bio:

Dr. Boyang Li is now a Principal Research Scientist at the Joint NTU-UBC Research Centre of Excellence in Active Living for the Elderly (LILY). Previously he was a Senior Research Scientist at Baidu Research Sunnyvale and a Research Scientist and Group Leader at Disney Research Pittsburgh. In 2014, He received his Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology. His research work has been covered by major media outlets such as Engadget, Techcrunch, New Scientist, and NPR.
